The Seasons

Spring
The daffodil stirs
A small, cold bulb in the dark
Longing for the sun.

Summer
A floral sundress
Ripples on the backyard line
Dreaming of bare skin.

Autumn
One leaf among many
Dying in damp earthy piles
Recalls life’s beauty.

Winter
Snow falls silently
I listen to my own heart 
In the lonely night.
